Costa Rica Sportfishing

Fishing in Costa Rica's Pacific coast has been attracting salt water anglers looking to tackle the oceans trophies for decades. Costa Rica has dense populations of Pacific Sailfish, Blue and Black Marlin and just about everything else that the Southern Pacific offers.

Home of the current (and previous) world record snook, and too many other records to mention, Costa Rica serves up exciting inshore fishing action. The volcanic coastlines and chains of islands extending below the surface far out into the ocean make up the natural bait havens that attract the areas predator fish.

Costa Rica's climate is typically very warm and sunny December through April, then you begin to have some welcomed cloud cover that turns into late afternoon and evening rain showers that cool things down making the evening air refreshing and perfect for dinner at any one of the countries open air restaurants.

Scuba Diving and Snorkeling

Scuba Diving in Costa Rica is world famous for "Cano Island", a site rated as the premiere dive site in Central America. Cano Island is known for its 6 surrounding reefs that are home to snapper, white and black tip sharks, grouper, roosterfish, blue trevalles, angels, and any other reef creatures you would expect to find while scuba diving in the pristine tropical waters of Costa Rica.

Traveling Costa Rica

Traveling through Costa Rica can be quite an adventure on its own. Although all major destinations are just a short flight from San Jose (the capitol), some decide to rent a car and head off to see what is in between. Allow yourself extra time for anything from typical one lane bridge congestion, to navigating the crater sized potholes that the country seems so fond of. Public transportation is the local favorite and generally not that uncomfortable and very reasonably priced with long bus trips costing no more than a few dollars.
